Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, the founding members of the British band Fleetwood Mac, spent years trying to make a name for themselves, with limited success. They finally broke through in 1975, after moving to Los Angeles, when the American couple Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the group, helping to drive their album “Fleetwood Mac” to number one on the album charts.
Suddenly, the group could do no wrong. More success followed in 1977 when their album “Rumours” rocketed to the top of the charts, remaining there for an astounding 31 weeks and selling more than 40 million copies.
The success of their albums was quickly followed by a stream of hit singles, among them “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” “You Make Loving Fun,” and “Rhiannon.”
But their most memorable hit by far is “Don’t Stop,” which was chosen by US presidential candidate Bill Clinton as his campaign song, helping propel Clinton to The White House and the song back in steady rotation at radio stations across North America for a second time.
In all, Fleetwood Mac has sold well over 120 million records, and their hits are a staple for classic rock radio throughout the world, continuing to inspire new generations of fans.
Singer, songwriter, and actress Megan Schroder started her musical career as a drummer before graduating to lead singer in a popular London, Ontario-based 70s/80s cover band “Loveless.”
She appeared in the movie “Tapped Out,” and performed in the stage plays “Elvis Is Dead” and “Cabaret,” and has enjoyed success on radio with her self-penned seasonal favorite “If I Don’t Make It Through This Christmas.”
Megan says, “Classic rock music is in my DNA, and Fleetwood Mac songs are my all-time favorites. So doing a show that pays tribute to them is a real treat for me.”
Megan’s “Don’t Stop” tribute to Fleetwood Mac has been a popular draw from its first performance. In the show, Megan spotlights Stevie Nicks’ and Christine McVie’s roles in the band, but doesn’t ignore the founders.
Her stage presence, flawless voice, and natural ability to connect with people are always a big hit with audiences. Stellar performances, sweetened by Ian Hebert’s backup vocals and tasty guitar work, have resulted in multiple tours in Canada and Mexico, capturing the hearts of many.
This month, “Don’t Stop” returns to Banderas Bay for a third time. Shows on February 23rd and 24th at The Luna Lounge in Bucerias sold out quickly, so a third show has been added on the 22nd.
And as part of the popular “Tribute Tuesdays” program, the duo will appear on the 25th at the recently opened Rancho Santiago in Paso Guayabo, just outside Puerto Vallarta, on city bus route 4.
