“I would like you to distinguish between what you have to do and what you want to do.
You may believe that there are many things that you have to do. You have to go to work. You have to make money. You have to pay your bills. You have to pay your taxes.
However, there’s something about having to do something that adds an extra element of stress that isn’t present when you’re simply wanting to do something.
The difference is… enjoyment.
When you say you have to do something, it almost sounds as if you don’t really want to, but there is some imperative that makes you do what you don’t really want to do.
And, I’m not saying, “Don’t go to work” or “Don’t pay your taxes.” But, there is a different way of looking at it that opens up a tremendous amount of energy and excitement in your life, and that is… seeing whatever it is that you do as something that you enjoy doing.
If you allow enjoyment to be your guide, if you enjoy getting up, taking a shower, and going to work.
If you enjoy engaging with your coworkers and let enjoyment be your focus, you open up a huge amount of energy to come your way, making everything easier.
Inherently, no one likes being dominated by anyone else. No one likes to feel coerced, pressured, or forced into a situation. And, words like “should” and “have to” bring on that feeling of not really being able to do what you want to do, but instead, what you have to do.
However, when you’re enjoying yourself, that “have to” feeling goes away. The social, legal, or moral imperative is no longer in effect. What you’re left with is the joy of being alive, the joy of going after what you’re interested in, the joy of pursuing whatever goal you have, but not waiting until the goal is reached before you enjoy yourself.
Let the enjoyment be in the process, and allow enjoyment to come into your life for everything.
Enjoy each breath. Enjoy the food that you eat. Enjoy your pets. Enjoy your friends. Enjoy your technology. Enjoy the books that you read. Enjoy all of it. If you make your life about enjoyment, there will be a flow that will make all of your goals much easier to reach.
The journey itself is enjoyable if you allow it to be, if you look for what you like in whatever it is you’re doing.
Enjoy a pet sitting on your lap. Enjoy taking your pet for a walk. Enjoy the connection that you make with nature. Enjoy being able to move about freely.
This is the key to the life you wish to live, and it brings you closer and closer to the real experience of heaven, which is just infinite choice and infinite enjoyment, the pursuit of which makes you even happier.
Enjoy the day.
I love you very much and I’ll speak with you again soon.”
