The Eagles were formed in 1971 by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner—all talented musicians previously part of Linda Ronstadt’s backup band.
Over their extensive and influential career, they toured the globe, winning 5 American Music Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, and earning a prestigious spot in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
They sold an astounding 150 million records, which includes six #1 albums. Their “Greatest Hits” compilation alone has sold an impressive 42 million copies, solidifying its place as the top-selling American album of the 20th century.
One of their most iconic songs, “Hotel California,” has sold 32 million copies and has seamlessly defined their image for eternity. After a lengthy 16-year hiatus, in 1996, The Eagles triumphantly launched their “Hell Freezes Over” tour, marking the beginning of an even more successful phase of their career.
Tragically, in 2016, founding member Glenn Frey passed away, leaving a profound impact on fans and the music community at large. His legacy continues on with the addition of his son, Deacon, stepping into the role to carry forth his father’s spirit and artistry.
The Eagles’ worldwide popularity and their extensive repertoire of timeless hits have made Eagles tributes a thriving mini-industry throughout the English-speaking world. Notable Canadian Marty Jones, who is a founding member of the seminal Canadian rock band “Refugee,” alongside “Desperado,” one of the earliest and most widely known Eagles tribute bands, has partnered with the exceptionally talented guitar whiz Kenny Vehkavarra, affectionately known as “Kenny V,” to create “The Eagles A California Classic.”
They have put an innovative spin on the tribute concept by focusing primarily on Don Henley and Glenn Frey, the band’s principal songwriters and lead singers, whose artistry shaped the heart and soul of The Eagles’ legendary sound. To heighten the show’s overall impact, they successfully blend spirited live vocals with accomplished guitar and bass playing, alongside specially produced music tracks, resulting in a smooth, polished performance that truly rivals the sound and excitement of an actual Eagles concert.
These veteran entertainers, who have often collaborated in recording studios and various concert and club settings, seem to effortlessly re-create the unmistakable, harmony-infused sound that has made The Eagles beloved by fans worldwide. Their captivating performances have generated significant buzz, leading to a slew of bookings across Canada, the northern USA, and even Mexico.
“The Eagles, A California Classic” runs the gamut of Eagles hits, from favorites like “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Take It Easy,” and “Tequila Sunrise,” through to passionate renditions of “Desperado,” “Life In The Fast Lane,” and, of course, the inimitable classic “Hotel California.”
The duo’s Luna Lounge shows on January 25, 26 and 27 were sold out weeks in advance, reflecting the steadfast demand and appreciation for their tribute. For eager Eagles fans longing to catch this world-class show, some seats are still available for their highly anticipated January 28 appearance at Rancho Santiago.
