I wish to speak to you today about your pets.
So many people have pets in their lives, most often cats and dogs. And, over time, what they realize is that there is a symbiotic relationship there.
At first, it seems that you are taking care of your pets. You have to walk your dog and you have to buy them food and take them to the vet and it’s very one-sided.
But, it doesn’t take long before you realize that it’s a two-way street, that in many ways, your pets are taking care of you.
And, if you go deeper into this relationship, you’ll realize that they are protecting you by just radiating divine energy. They are loving you, accepting you, at peace with you, devoted to you.
There is so much that your pets have to show you, to teach you. They also bring out the best in you.
People are often more willing to spend money on their pets than they are on themselves. They take on, without asking, this role of caretaker and protector. They’re more conscious of their pet’s needs, sometimes, than their own.
This relationship is, indeed, sacred. And, it affords you a better understanding of your relationship with God.
The deeper you go, the more you’ll realize how taken care of you are in so many ways, and it’s your privilege to take care of them. It is in the giving that you receive. Your conscientiousness is its own reward. There is a mutual loyalty that can be felt.
What I am asking you to do is consider that the relationship that you have with your pets and that they have with you is no different than the relationship that you have with everyone in your life– every person who is rude to you, who cuts you off in traffic, who is kind to you for no reason, who asks for help, who offers you help, who frustrates you, who pleases you.
Every situation that you’re in is very much the same as that relationship with your pets.
It’s all the Universe loving you and urging you to know yourself, to go within, to be who you really are, to see love in all things, to accept what you cannot change, and, if anything, to change yourself in relation to these things that seem to thwart you in your efforts, or seem to aid you in your efforts.
If you can, expand the gratitude that you have towards your pets to your neighbors, your community, your fellow human beings on this planet.
They have all volunteered to wake you up, and you have done the same. And, it is all sacred. It is all love, and it’s all for your and everyone’s benefit.
Just let yourself enjoy this moment and expand your love of your pets to include everyone and everything and watch how nurtured you feel by life.
Thank you, Dr. Jim, for sharing this with us.
