That was my first impression as I stepped inside the entrance to Pacific Home assisted living facility in Colonia Linda Vista, Puerto Vallarta. Clean, fresh air, beautifully landscaped with mature trees, palms, fruit trees, grass, flowers, and kindly staff quietly exchanging with the residents, in a gentle tropical climate. I felt instantly relaxed.
I visited Pacific Home with three retired ladies, 8 minutes up the hill from Costco. We were very impressed by the beauty and high quality of the accommodations and the kindness of the Founder, Doctor Alejandro Rosales, who toured the entire facility with us.
Whether you are able-bodied or require 24-hour attendant care (example: for Alzheimer’s patients), Pacific Home’s trained attendants, therapists, and medical staff, present 24/7 on site, will ensure you receive quality care and comfortable living.
Pacific Home, created three years ago, is the only fully licensed retirement residence in the Bahia de Banderas area. The facility is undergoing expansion to care for 40 residents, including patients needing total assistance due to dementia or other conditions.
Each dementia patient has their own attendant 24 hours a day, working in shifts. Spanish or English is spoken, depending on the resident’s preference.
Doctor Rosales has been teaching medical staff at an educational institution for the past six years, and his fluent bilingual daughter administers Pacific Home. The Rosales family lives on the premises.
There are two sizes of high-ceilinged, modern, fully-furnished rooms (45 and 60 square meters). Each has toilet/shower, ample closet space, a King-sized bed, a seating area, a large-screen TV with multiple channels, and WiFi throughout. If a resident prefers to do their own cooking, a kitchenette can be built.
While many competing facilities charge extra for many services, Dr Rosales quoted round-the-clock care, 3 meals daily, and two snacks prepared by a trained chef, daily medical supervision, and minor hospital visits included at less than half the price of what it would cost, say, in Canada.

Also included are daily activities (physical, cultural), hair styling, laundry, and maintenance services of the rooms and the grounds – which are spotless.
Meals are served where the residents choose to eat: the dining room, the outside patio and garden areas, the resident’s room, and the living/TV room.
The inground pool is heated and very warm, plus there is a gym. Residents can walk the roads around the facility up the hill. The Colonia is well-named – the views of the coast are beautiful.
While residents may bring along up to a medium-sized pet, they are also welcome to volunteer at the nearby animal refuge and walk the dogs in the area, either alone or with the other volunteers.
Rates vary, depending on the degree of assistance required by the resident, from independent to requiring round-the-clock personal attendants. Payment can be made in the national currencies of Mexico, the USA, or Canada, at the resident’s choice.
You would likely spend longer winters in Puerto Vallarta if there were someone to look after your family member who needs care, right? Now there is! You could pre-arrange to have them stay at Pacific Home for several months during the winter. And, Doctor Rosales can fly to your location and accompany your family member, if necessary, on their flight to Puerto Vallarta.
If you aren’t sure you will like Pacific Home, you can try it out by spending up to a month, including all meals and activities, at a reduced rate by prior arrangement.
Pacific Home will be holding a free tour, Q&A session (in English), and light breakfast by reservation only for a limited number of guests, lasting around 2 hours.
