A Good Mattress

When furnishing your home in Vallarta, I recommend investing in a well-made sofa, long-lasting outdoor furniture, and an incredibly comfortable mattress.

Most people are unaware that mattress sizes differ around the world. Mattresses manufactured in Mexico are shorter and broader than American and European mattresses. This size variance does not impact sleep quality, but you will probably notice your feet hang over the end of the bed.

For those of you who are taller, worry not! American sizes are available in Mexico, although they are considered a special order. According to the President of Sealy’s manufacturing plant in Mexico, American-size mattresses make up less than 2% of their total annual mattress sales.

Some mattress superstores keep two to three American-size mattresses in inventory; however, you may need to sacrifice any features you want in return for getting the mattress right away. A special-order mattress can take up to two or three months.

Manufacturing facilities adjust all their machinery to produce these special sizes and generally wait until they have a large enough order to warrant the cost of adjusting.

The prices for mattresses in Mexico are about the same as what you would pay north of the border. As a rule of thumb, American-size mattresses and bedroom furniture cost around 10% more because they are custom.

Bed sizes in Mexico are King, Queen, Matrimonial (equivalent to full) and Individual (equivalent to twin). California King is also available here; however, it is also considered a custom size.

Since the widths and lengths of mattresses differ in Mexico, sheets you bring from north of the border will not fit properly. As for mattress materials, the two most popular options are coil and memory foam mattresses.

Mattresses with pocketed, offset, or continuous coils are available in Mexico. Memory foam mattresses are also available here. They are soft, adaptable, and great if your partner is a restless sleeper.

I have both types of mattresses in my home in Vallarta for over ten years. I invested in mid-range priced mattresses. No rusted coils. No mold or mildew.

Because a good sleep is critical to your health and well-being, the only way to select the right mattress is to try before you buy it. It never ceases to amaze me when people say they will purchase mattresses at a big box store where you cannot test them.

I recommend buying at one of the Mexico mattress superstores. Unlike big box stores, you will be able to test it out. Unlike department stores, you generally pay less. In addition, many of the mattress superstores include delivery.

The same brand names in the US and Canada are also available in Mexico (Sealy, Serta). If you plan to shop for your mattress north of the border and then purchase it when you arrive in Mexico, heads up! Although retailers here will likely have the same mattress, it will probably have a different name.

So, write down the features in addition to the brand and style name to find the equivalent version here.

Right now, the mattress industry is being disrupted by the emergence of bed-in-a-box options. This innovative approach to mattress shopping has revolutionized how people purchase mattresses since they can do so from the comfort and convenience of their homes.

Bed-in-a-box mattresses typically consist of layers of foam or a hybrid combination of foam and coils. The construction varies among brands, but a common feature is using memory foam, latex, or polyfoam to support and contour the body. Memory foam conforms to the sleeper’s shape, relieving pressure points and promoting a restful night’s sleep. Latex, known for its durability and natural breathability, enhances the overall comfort of the mattress.

These materials are carefully layered to create a balanced blend of support and comfort, ensuring a rejuvenating sleep experience. The convenience of bed-in-a-box mattresses lies in their packaging and delivery system.

These mattresses are compressed, rolled, and shipped in a compact box directly to your home in Mexico. Once the box is opened, the mattress expands to its full size within a few hours. This streamlined process eliminates the need for traditional in-store mattress shopping, providing a hassle-free experience for consumers in Vallarta.

Many bed-in-a-box mattress brands also offer attractive warranty periods and return policies. Warranties typically range from 10 to 15 years, assuring customers of the mattress’s longevity and durability.

Return policies often include risk-free trial periods, allowing customers to test the mattress in the comfort of their homes. If the mattress does not meet your expectations within the specified timeframe, you can return it for a refund or exchange. This allows you to truly try it out to confirm it is the mattress for you.

For those in Vallarta seeking quality bed-in-a-box options, several reputable brands have made their mark in the Mexican market. These brands prioritize customer satisfaction, emphasizing quality construction and innovative designs to ensure a good night’s sleep for every individual. A good night’s sleep is worth every penny. Do not pinch any when buying your mattress.
