The New Belters

Cabaret favorites Nicolas King (the longest-running Chip in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast) and Seth Sikes (associate director for Broadway’s The Band’s Visit and The Nance) joined forces for a limited concert tour entitled The New Belters, which debuted at The Palm Cabaret.

Watching Seth Sikes and Nicolas King on stage conjures up warm feelings of positivity. Not only can these men SING like pros, but they also project an incredible, loving energy that fills the room. I caught their show, The New Belters, at The Palm Cabaret last week, and it was simply wonderful!

Seth and Nicolas, accompanied by Broadway pianist extraordinaire Glen Kelly, wowed us with lots of show tunes and background stories. Both with powerful, appealing vocal styles reminiscent of Broadway, Seth and Nicolas belted and sometimes cradled us with many of Broadway’s signature songs.

From serious ballads to goofy parodies to exciting song medleys, we enjoyed this musical journey for more than an hour and left with a greater appreciation for both male and female musical icons whose music we so adore.

Nicolas King has been performing since age 4. He was seen first on Broadway in ‘Beauty & The Beast,’ then in ‘A Thousand Clowns,’ opposite Tom Selleck, and ‘Hollywood Arms’ directed by Hal Prince, all before age 12.

Other credits include 8 consecutive annual performances on The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, ‘The View,’ ‘Today’ show, ‘Good Morning America,’ ‘Sally Jesse Raphael’ and twice on ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jay Leno.

Seth Sikes has been performing sold-out appearances in various Manhattan clubs and other cities. His critically acclaimed tributes to Judy Garland (which won a Broadway World Award), Liza Minnelli, Tony Bennet, Barbra Streisand, Patty LuPone, and Bernadette Peters are a consistent draw for audiences. Seth and Nicolas have toured the USA and Canada with their The New Belters Show this past year.

Seth studied at Circle in the Square Theater School and followed his love of musicals to a role in the Off-Broadway production of ‘Fame.’

For a while, he found steadier employment behind the scenes as an assistant director on plays but still longed to perform and would frequent piano bars like Marie’s Crisis and The Monster after work.

In 2014, he returned to the stage for the first time in 10 years with an all-Judy show. “It was really supposed to be a one-night-only stunt for all my friends in the theater,” he said. The performance was a hit with fans and later with critic Rex Reed.

Since then, Seth has gained notoriety as a sought-after cabaret performer, paying tributes to some of music’s greatest women. With emotion and raw talent, Seth can belt out the hits of stars like Judy, Liza, Barbra, Bernadette, and more with feeling and positive energy.

Seth recently won The 2023 Best Tribute Show Award from Broadway World for his show, Seth Sikes Sings Barbra Streisand.

Seth Sikes and Nicolas King joined forces as The New Belters to pay tribute to the show-stopping stars who paved the way, such as Sammy Davis Jr., Anthony Newley, Eydie Gormé, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Ethel Merman, Barbra Streisand, Patti LuPone and more!

Nicolas and Seth carry the torch from these legendary performers and the great songwriters who wrote so many of their hits.

And who doesn’t love Broadway and all those favorites from The American Songbook? Seth Sikes and Nicolas King enriched our love and appreciation of this music by entertaining us with all those well-loved songs!

The New Belters will perform their show with pianist Mark Hartman at Nacho Daddy on February 4 at 9 pm. On February 12 at 9:30 pm, they will present Say Cheese, their Broadway Diva Edition with Gouda Gabor, also at Nacho Daddy.

On February 9 at 7:30 pm, The New Belters will be special guests in Folles La Rue at ACT2PV. Don’t miss these incredible performers while they are still in Vallarta!
