Vallarta Botanical Garden: Curator’s Corner

Dear Members and Friends of the Garden,

With high hopes and enthusiasm we at the Vallarta Botanical Garden begin this year with big wishes and excitement for the year ahead, and hope we will be seeing you soon.

Last year was not without some extreme challenges such as Category 4 Hurricane Lidia that made a direct hit on us and destroyed parts of our Garden and required major repairs to our buildings and plant collections. The noise of chainsaws and electric generators were buzzing for days piercing the normal tranquility of the Garden. Thankfully most of the garden has been repaired now but sadly, the huge trees that came down throughout the area will take longer to be replaced. Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. I will never fail you.

On a positive note, our Garden won another top honor from the Canadian Garden Tourism Counsel and I traveled to Butchart Garden in Victoria, Canada November 3, to accept our award “Top Garden Worth Traveling For” Where I also gave a presentation about the Vallarta Botanical Garden and Puerto Vallarta to conference attendees.

While I could regale you with stories of the day to day happenings at the Gardens I will close for now by wishing you and your loved ones a fantastic 2024. While the world sure seems more crazy than ever, remember nature is the cure.

With much appreciation from the Garden,
Robert Price
