Vallarta Pride Pet Parade and Sunset Dog Walk

By Jeff Wilkie

Parque Lazaro Cardenas will come alive again as the city gears up for the highly-anticipated 2nd Annual Puerto Vallarta Pride Pet Parade and Sunset Dog Walk on May 20, starting at 6 pm. This year’s event promises to surpass last year’s success, offering an evening filled with furry fun and community spirit.

Organizer and Puppy Paradise Board Member volunteer Jeff Wilkie aims to celebrate community pride with big prizes up for grabs in costume contests and an array of raffle prizes donated by generous local businesses. Attendees can anticipate an evening of excitement and camaraderie.

The festivities will kick off with folks gathering to show off their cute pooches. After the contest, Yara will then lead the way, accompanied by a talented saxophonist, as participants embark on a sunset dog walk parade along the picturesque Malecón. With breathtaking views of the ocean, mountains, and the charm of Puerto Vallarta, the walk promises to be a memorable experience for all.

For the comfort of both canine companions and their human counterparts, water stations will be conveniently located at Let’s Pho and Vitea restaurants along the short route. Participants can hydrate and refresh as they enjoy the leisurely stroll along the Malecón.

Parade viewers are invited to the Vitea viewing party and indulge in 2×1 margaritas from 7 to 8 pm. Revelers can soak in the festive atmosphere and cheer on the procession as it loops back, passing by Vitea once more before returning to the starting point.

We will have the raffle back at the park. Tickets are only 50 pesos, and all proceeds will go to the shelter, so try your luck!

Registration for the event is open online, with a donation of 200 pesos or more to support the efforts of Puppy Paradise Dog Shelter.
