Is Your Family Member or Friend a Migraine Sufferer?

‘They’ said it was impossible. ‘They’ said it couldn’t be done. Yet smallpox was eliminated, guinea worms are on their way out, and the Black Plague is history—step by step.

The UN estimates a world population of around 8 billion. The World Health Organization estimates around 10 – 15% of those are migraine sufferers. That’s 800 million to 1.2 billion sufferers.

Two-thirds of migraine sufferers are women. Since my method for finding significant pain relief recommends multi-tasking, ladies, this is right up our alley.

One American statistic I read claimed that 50% of migraine sufferers never consult a doctor for a diagnosis or treatment – that means that whatever is being done now to help can be doubled!

During my trial-and-error journey to rid myself of migraine pain, I met other migraine sufferers. I would proffer a couple of pages I had typed up with names of local therapists, books that I had found helpful, and a few hints that I found helped.

When I met these colleagues or acquaintances again a year or two later and would ask how they were doing with their migraine condition, I would get a confused look and a comment that they hadn’t had a migraine in a year or two or they were down to only one migraine per year.

I was still suffering badly from too many migraines, and thought: “I’ve been working to get rid of migraines for at least 5 years, and I am still suffering! This acquaintance or co-worker did just a little bit for about a year, and they are migraine-free! What am I doing wrong?! No fair!”

The answer? I had a laundry list of triggers, whereas they had far fewer triggers to deal with.

I’m no doctor. I hold no medical degree, never did, and never will. What I am is a former migraine sufferer who, contrary to most doctors, had the luxury of time to focus on one ailment, on one sufferer, and had only one experiment to pursue.

To me, nothing speaks louder than success. And to my great surprise, ridding myself of not only the worst migraine attacks but ALL attacks for decade after decade, to the point where migraines are no longer a thought when I plan my day, is nothing short of a miracle.

I shouldn’t be surprised because “the harder I work, the luckier I get!”

Aside from my own success, my approach to significant migraine pain relief is doctors-recommended. Plural. Even better – One licensed medical doctor wrote a letter of recommendation for my book, which he quotes from when he lectures medical students at a top national university.

He knows whereof he speaks – he was a medical student who continued to suffer from migraines early on in his practice despite his professional training and title as a medical doctor. He began opening his mind to include alternative therapies and practiced what is now referred to as integrative medicine – a ‘leave no stone unturned’ approach. And this medical doctor got rid of his own crippling migraine condition decades ago by tweaking his lifestyle choices!

The doctor who diagnosed me decades ago said: “There is no cure for migraines.” He was only partly right. He left out the rest of the sentence: “… however you can find significant pain relief if you tweak your lifestyle and adopt certain healthier choices.” Could I still develop migraines today despite being pain-free for decades? Yes. I know that If I abuse my system like I used to, I will develop migraines again. I took action toward a healthier lifestyle and stayed on that pleasant path, and the combination of actions I took resulted in a pain-free life.

Most people who reach out to me have a friend or family member in mind who suffers from migraines and ask for a copy of my book. (The migraine sufferers are curled up in the fetal position, in bed, in a darkened, sound-muted environment, thirsty and hungry (too nauseous to hold down a mouthful of water or food without throwing up 5 minutes later), head pounding, moaning in pain, wondering if it will ever end [pssst – yes, it will].)

The book is entitled Introduction to How I Got Rid of Migraines—A 4th generation sufferer’s journey to a cure. So far, it’s in English and Spanish (Como Me Libre de Las Migrañas). If you email me, we can arrange to deliver a copy to you (500 pesos each, plus any shipping and handling). (My email is curingmigraines@gmail.com.)
